1 Confirm your eligibility & hold requirements DMV / Court

- Schedule a DMV appointment to take your written exam — book early due to long wait times.
- Schedule your installation at least 72 hours before your DMV exam. It takes 1–3 business days for the DMV to receive your lease agreement from us.
We can help you understand your letter and next steps. Call 970‑515‑5740 or email us.

We install Lifesafer and Guardian devices — both nationally approved and meeting all Colorado state requirements. Most installs take 2–3 hours.
- Call us to schedule your installation.
- Print and complete the client intake form before you arrive.
- Bring: valid ID, vehicle registration, completed intake form, and a payment method. We accept cash, credit, and debit — no American Express.
- Instructional videos are on our Lifesafer and Guardian pages. A one-on-one training session is provided before you leave the shop.
3 File insurance (SR‑22) with the DMV Insurance
Ask your insurer to submit an SR‑22 to the Colorado DMV electronically. Keep it active for the full required period — a lapse will trigger a license suspension.
- Request proof of filing for your records.
- Your insurance company will send proof of insurance directly to the DMV.
4 Complete alcohol education / treatment (if required) Classes
If your letter lists classes or therapy, enroll right away. The DMV requires a certificate of enrollment or completion before issuing a restricted permit.
- Ask the provider for electronic submission to speed things up.
- Proof of enrollment typically requires at least one class session completed.

- Bring your ID and any fees listed on your reinstatement letter.
- Confirm the length of your interlock requirement at this appointment.
- Important: Your interlock program clock starts the day your restricted permit is issued — not the day of installation.

- Colorado clients are able to extend their daily interval between calibration appointments to 45 days.
- Missing your calibration window will lock your device — don't let it lapse.
